General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) Statement
For the purposes of Data Protection Act 1998 and General Data Protection Regulation 2018 Charmain Gilmour is the Data Controller of Charmain Gilmour Counselling and is registered with the Information Commissioners Office under reference ZA487674.
I use the information provided by you for contact purposes, and to ensure an ethical, safe counselling service. I keep factual records on the number of sessions delivered, dates of sessions and the theme of the sessions in a locked cabinet accessible only by me. You can ask to see these at any time. I am required to keep these notes for seven years for insurance purposes, after which time they will be shredded. The only other notes I make are temporary ones to assist with my supervision sessions, which are destroyed afterwards.
Your information will not be shared with anyone without your consent, with the exceptions of:
1. As per my BACP Ethical commitments I have regular counselling supervision. Supervision is a monthly meeting with a qualified counselling supervisor where client work is discussed in order to help me support my clients. During supervision sessions I only refer to my clients by their first name.
2. If I feel that you or someone you mention is at risk of serious harm, I am not permitted to keep that to myself. In such a case I would aim as far as possible to discuss my concerns with you first and agree the best way forward under the circumstances.
3. If you mention that you are involved in, or have any knowledge of, terrorist activity or money laundering, I am obliged by UK law to disclose this.
4. I receive a Court Order requesting an order of release of confidential information.
If you have any concerns regarding the above, please contact me to discuss further.
